Stress-Free Travel
It can be daunting, arriving in a foreign country, not speaking the language or knowing where to visit and how to get there. You want to get the most out of your trip without having the stress of hiring a car or trying to work out the local bus and train network. So why not sit back and relax and let us take all the stress out of travelling while you enjoy all that magic Tuscany has to offer.
Husband and wife team
So who are you entrusting your precious holiday to? We are a husband and wife team who have been coming to Tuscany for the last 20 years, combining buying trips for our family art business in England with the pleasure of spending time in this beautiful part of the world. We absolutely love this region and have gained a huge amount of knowledge during the time we’ve spent here, from amazing restaurants and the best shops and markets to beautiful hilltop villages and stunning art galleries.
We are completely independent and not part of any tour organisation. We just want to share our passion for this place and help our clients to experience the days out that we enjoy.
Personal service
Italy is a wonderful and infinitely varied country and for us, Tuscany is the best part. Joining us for a few days will give you an insight not only into Tuscany but Italy itself and will leave you wanting to return time after time. Our one to one tours are designed strictly for couples who, like us, want to immerse themselves in the relaxed Italian way of life. Instead of being packed on a coach with 20 or 30 other people, you will travel in our luxury car, watching the stunning Italian countryside roll by. You won’t have to worry about hiring a car, dealing with the Italian road system, finding parking spaces, this will all be done for you, just sit back and relax. And there’s no strict adherence to any timetables, you will have as long as you like to visit shops, churches, art galleries, enjoy a coffee and have a relaxing lunch.
We will prepare an itinerary for you that is completely flexible but will allow you to see the very best that Tuscany has to offer. A typical day might begin with a leisurely breakfast followed by a drive to the medieval city of Lucca, for example. We would spend an hour or so strolling through the narrow streets, showing you some of the more unusual buildings like the tower with a tree growing out of the top, something you might miss if you were unaccompanied. And then there are the fantastic shops where you can buy anything from shoes, clothes and jewellery to kitchenware. This is your trip so you set the pace and stop to look in whichever shops you like.
For lunch we would visit our favourite bar for a buffet lunch followed by coffee and an incredible selection of cakes and pastries. After lunch a leisurely stroll to the Cathedral and then possibly a walk on the vast walls that encircle the city. On leaving Lucca we could then visit Pisa, famous of course for its leaning tower. But this isn’t all that Pisa has to offer and we can show you the town’s unusual covered walkways leading down to the river Arno, something most tourists never get to see. How about an afternoon drink or one of Italy’s famous ice creams before returning to Viareggio to shower and get changed for dinner?
Itineraries tailored to suit you
There are so many beautiful towns and villages in Tuscany but no trip is complete without visiting Florence and Siena. Another town which is a particular favourite of ours is San Gimignano, famous for its medieval towers. There we would have a wonderful Tuscan lunch, visit the Cathedral, stroll around the shops and art galleries and admire the amazing view from the town’s elevated position. Afterwards we would return to Viareggio via the Etruscan city of Volterra with its countless shops devoted to alabaster. Other trips could include a visit to the picturesque village of Portofino where we’d travel north, leaving Tuscany behind us and venturing into the province of Liguria. Here the multi-coloured buildings huddle around the harbour and we could sit watching the world go by over a superb lunch. Or we could take a trip to the marble quarries at Carrara which is always fascinating as it is the oldest industrial site in the world, having been in continuous operation for over 3 thousand years. A tour of the Chianti region, stopping to sample some wine and olive oil, is another pleasant day out but the choice of itinerary is virtually limitless and we would be pleased to discuss this with you in detail.
Where we are based
We are based in the vibrant seaside town of Viareggio which is a short distance to the north of Pisa. This chic resort is where many Italians spend their holidays and it has a long safe beach split into numerous privately run sections, many of which are owned by the countless hotels. The beach stretches as far as the eye can see and is laid out in typically elegant Italian fashion with umbrellas, deckchairs and loungers, changing rooms and showers. Many even have their own bars and swimming pools. Behind the beach is a long pedestrianised promenade packed with restaurants, cafes and designer shops such as Prada and Dolce and Gabanna. Although it’s not typical Tuscany, it’s a great place to spend a day or two, either relaxing on the beach, shopping or just soaking up the Italian way of life with a cool drink on your hotel terrace. At night Viareggio comes alive as the Italians get dressed up and ‘passagiata’ (stroll up and down the seafront, stopping here for a coffee or there for a Campari and soda).
Unique experience
As you can see, our tours are unique and relaxed and are a wonderful way to see the region. Each personally tailored tour for two people costs from £450 per day for a minimum of 5 days. This is inclusive of travelling costs which cover fuel, motorway tolls, parking charges etc. We will also collect you and return you to Pisa airport at no extra charge. We would also like to offer you a complimentary evening meal, joining us in our hotel on your first night to discuss your itinerary in greater detail. What is not included is the cost of flights to and from Italy, hotel expenses, meals and insurances etc.
We always stay in the charming 4 star Palace Hotel with whom we have a very good relationship. We would be very pleased to arrange a room for you here providing one was available at the time of booking. If not, we can supply you with a list of similar quality hotels but you would need to make this reservation yourself either with the hotel direct or through one of the many hotel booking companies. Please ask as we are more than happy to offer you any assistance that we can.
